The mission of Hidden River Counseling is to facilitate an environment that exudes hope. We do this by providing a safe place for hurting individuals, couples and families to find the healing and health they long for. We walk alongside our clients towards emotional and relational growth and renewal by listening to each client’s unique story and guiding people based on their specific set of values and goals. We are committed to serving families across the greater Atlanta area by providing a secure and confidential space where people can begin to navigate through the deep water they find themselves in.
Hidden River Counseling believes that faith is an important part of one’s journey on this earth, no matter what the specifics of what one believes. We are convinced that one’s path towards wholeness and healing cannot be fully realized outside of one’s dependence on a Source more powerful than themselves. However, we are committed to working with clients of a wide variety of religious and non-religious backgrounds. Ultimately, we aim to support you as you seek a healthy, balanced life.
Kendall Flowe // MA, NCC, LPC
Kendall Flowe is passionate about joining men and women on their journey towards healing and freedom. He believes everyone possesses a desire to be known and loved, and it is through the compassion deficits from one’s past that create belief systems surrounding such desires which contribute to an individual’s instincts to protect themselves in a manner that blocks life-giving relationships from forming. Kendall believes that when light is shown in the dark burrows of one’s hiding, freedom ensues and healthy relationship and attachment is possible.
Kendall works with individuals, families, and groups who long to live a full life, free from the shackles that have haunted them throughout their lives. Kendall holds his Master in Professional Counseling from Denver Seminary. He enjoys fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and playing softball as often as possible. He loves a good campfire and holds his family and friends very close to the fabric of his heart.
Therese Wyatt // MS, NCC, LPC
Therese holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee and a MS degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University. She enjoys working with adolescents, young adults and adult women of all ages struggling with anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma and relationship issues. She has experience working with couples struggling with relationship issues as well. Therese recognizes that humans were made to be in relationship. Many mental health and emotional issues stem from unhealthy relationships, with self or others.
Therese takes a holistic approach to counseling integrating the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of a client’s life. Therese uses a strength based, positive approach to counseling incorporating Adlerian and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. She is trained in trauma resolution and the treatment of anxiety disorders, including OCD and panic disorder and brings a unique perspective into the office and counseling relationship. With appropriate tools and insight, clients can make changes, moving towards better mental health and healthier relationships. Therese brings a Christian perspective into counseling when it fits with the client’s beliefs and value system. She does, however, value and respect the rights and beliefs of all clients, regardless of their religious backgrounds.
David Maher // MA, APC, NCC
Dave holds degrees from Denver Seminary in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Christian Formation and Soul Care. His experience working with sexual addiction, anger management, and spiritual formation have positioned him to uniquely help when life becomes overwhelming and unhealthy coping gets out of control. Dave practices an eclectic approach, adopting therapeutic styles appropriate to the client’s place in life. Most commonly, Dave utilizes Cognitive, Existential, Narrative, and Client-Centered therapies. Dave is happiest when spending time with his family and friends and enjoys being outside doing just about anything. In his free time, he enjoys reading, writing, and creating art.
“I chose a helping profession because I have been profoundly helped by good people in my life. After failing in critical ways, I found myself in need of powerful relationships to figure out how to live a life I am proud of and enjoy. Because of what I experienced in my own pain, loss, embarrassment, and limitation, I have given my life to meeting others in their pain, loss, embarrassment, and limitation. Having been broken in many ways myself, I have no judgment left in me for broken people.”
